The ICF puts the notions of ‘health’ and ‘disability’ in a new light. It acknowledges that every human being can experience a decrement in health and thereby experience some degree of disability. Disability is not something that only happens to a minority of humanity. The ICF thus ‘mainstreams’ the experience of disability and recognises it as a universal human experience. By shifting the focus from cause to impact it places all health conditions on an equal footing allowing them to be compared using a common metric – the ruler of health and disability.

Course Introduction
Education not only imparts knowledge, develops skills and inculcates values, but also develop human capital which breeds, drives and sets technological innovation and economic growth.  For these reasons education has always been considered as one of the key factors responsible of socio-economic development, growth and progress of any society.  Although “Education” has become an important metaphor of our society, there is no agreed upon definition of the term. For some people it is the delivery of knowledge, skills, and information from teachers to students. For some people it is a process in which and by which the knowledge, characters and behavior of the human being are shaped and molded. Yet, we all agree that all students should have equal access to educational recourses, social environment, and job opportunities that help individuals to become independent and positive contributor.  This task becomes more challenging as students come to school with diverse background and abilities.  To meet these challenges, an understanding of inclusive education is very important for educators, parents, and community leaders. This course is aimed to achieve this target.

Developing Business Process Management Capabilities of Undergraduate IT Students

My Recent paper "Developing Business Process Management Capabilities of Undergraduate IT Students" has been published in International Journal of Computer Applications 53(17):45-50, September 2012. Published by Foundation of Computer Science, New York, USA.


In recent years, Business Process Management (BPM) has emerged as an effective management strategy and an efficient technological solution for managing cross-functional business processes. Software industry is striving to integrate more and more functionalities in their BPM products. For this, the industry needs professionals who are equipped with BPM capabilities. However, lack of appropriate BPM skilled professionals in the field is a commonly reported problem. Keeping in view the importance of BPM knowledge & skills, a course of BPM is offered to IT undergraduate students to promote their process management capabilities. This longitudinal study, spread over fours semesters, has found that BPM knowledge and skills have strong connections with the IT curriculum and offering of BPM course to undergraduate students can strengthen their BPM capabilities. However, keeping in view the rapidly evolving nature of BPM field and associated technologies, the study identifies the need of standardized curriculum guidelines, to be developed in collaboration with academia and industry, to help the academic institutions to prepare students according to the needs of the employment market. It is believed the recommendations and the lessons learnt in this study may be useful for those who are seeking to strengthen their students' business process capabilities.

In today's world, knowledge management is considered as a key to organizational growth and competitiveness. Pakistan is among those developing countries where the importance of knowledge management has been realized but its practices have failed to get sufficient attention. This paper has presented a pragmatic approach to answer the research question how Pakistani organizations can implement technology driven KM initiatives to enhance their productivity and competitiveness. Free and Open Source Technologies based a recursive framework for a phase-wise KM implementation has been proposed. Six key factors have also been identified to make KM initiative successful. Abstract: Developing & implementing appropriate curricula is a paramount challenge in computing education. To meet this challenge, educators from all over the world are updating curriculum on a regular basis. Recently, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has revised the existing curricula of degree programs to standardize computing education in Pakistan. Taking a content analysis approach the study has pointed out many some shortcomings of the revised curricula. The study recommends that the teaching of over-crowded course contents must be discouraged as it promotes rote learning and inhibits creativity and innovation. Curriculum development processes must be followed to develop an effective curriculum. Also, the curriculum must enrich students’ experiences, thoughts, beliefs, assumptions, and attitudes in their field of study to develop special characteristics and mindset. The recommendations made in this study may help the concerned authorities to take measures to improve the quality and standards of the computing curriculum in Pakistan.
